Bergen, Norway 11 – 13 June, 2019

Unlocking the potential – it starts today

The subsea industry spotlight will focus on Bergen today and tomorrow, as leading figures from the sector arrive to discuss the key challenges – and opportunities – we face.

The focus of this year’s Underwater Technology Conference, which opens this morning in Bergen, is “Unlocking the potential.”

Those gathered to discuss how we do this include Aker BP CEO Karl Johnny Hersvik, who has been a vocal supporter of the adoption of new digital technologies in the oil and gas industry. He’s also a supporter of the subsea industry, saying it is now an integral part of the offshore business.

Hersvik’s opening speech will be followed by a talk from Bjørn Kåre Viken, Vice President of Projects and Technology Collaboration at Equinor. He will speak about Equinor’s “tech vision”, as well as international markets, from a subsea perspective.

Erik Sverre Jenssen, Chief Operating Officer at Lundin Norway, will focus on new ways of cooperating and, closing our opening plenary session is Hugo Dijkgraaf, Chief Executive Officer at Wintershall, focusing on pillars of growth, how gas and subsea became cornerstones of Wintershall’s business.

Following a coffee break, the floor will be opened to what is always a topical and lively discussion with a panel debate, this year featuring a raft of senior service company executives: John Macleod, CTO at Aker Solutions; Ben Charbit, BP Technology and Marketing at OneSubsea; Brian G. Taylor, Technical Manager, Well Control, TechnipFMC; and John Kerr, CTO BHGE.

After a lunch break, the parallel sessions will start.

The plenary session will be opened by UTC Program Committee Chairman Jon Arve Sværen, from OneSubsea, while the plane debate will be led by conference c0-moderators Wendy Lam, from BHGE, and Kristin Berg, from DNV GL.

UTC 2018 is the 24th Underwater Technology Conference, with 700 professionals and 40 exhibitors expected to attend at Bergen’s Grieghallen from 12-14 June 2018.
