John Kerr


UTC proudly presents John Kerr, Vice President of Engineering & Technology for Oilfield Equipment in BHGE, as a new Keynote Speaker.

In this role, John leads both the technology and product portfolio for the Product Company, as well as lead the global engineering teams supporting projects pursuit, fulfilment, and services.

In 2012 John, a 30 year experienced Subsea engineer, joined GE Oil and Gas as engineering director for the Subsea business group.

Prior to joining GE Oil and Gas, Kerr spent a period of 17 years internationally with Schlumberger Oilfield services, where held a number of key leadership positions all within their Subsea services division and all within the field of technology development and commercial application.

Technology and services introduced throughout this period included the complete family ultra deepwater and HPHT landing strings, open water intervention systems, controls and communication systems, surveillance systems, and asset integrity monitoring systems.

Kerr joined Schlumberger in 1996 as one of the founding members of their Subsea business and interest. Kerr also holds an extensive array of patents covering subsea technology and operational methodology.

Prior to Schlumberger, Kerr spent a number of years within the offshore subsea field installation and commissioning industry, where he led a variety of activities within the Atlantic Frontier Program (West of Shetland) with J Ray McDermotts, and the Mossgas field extension activities offshore south Africa with PetroSA.

John began his working career when he joined Vetco Gray (via Hughes Offshore) in 1986 as an engineering apprentice at the Charleton Road facility in Montrose, where he trained within the Subsea engineering group from day 1.
